Russell Play were approached to work with the London Borough of Bexley to help them create a unique and challenging play space. The new playground was to be located on a large recreational play area with football fields and a rugby pitch that is used by the whole community.

The client chose to work with Russell Play as they felt the company could design to budget, help them with the tender and were happy to incorporate other equipment into the overall design. Bexley specifically wanted a major piece of rope play as a centre piece as they liked the success of other play areas with rope products at nearby sites.

Russell Play created an impressive and extremely durable play space that would work for a variety of age ranges. Berliner Seilfabrik’s ‘Greenville’ construction formed the centre piece of the park. Together with the client, Russell Play came up with a bespoke version of this attractive Stainless steel and Bamboo product.

Compared to the standard Greenville units, this bespoke unit has an increased height and a greater variety of activities. A mix of materials was used to further increase visual interest and overall play value. The play equipment was combined with rubber surfacing throughout and a few land features such as the crawling tunnel and a mound. A few traditional items such as a cable ride, swings and rope roundabouts were also included.

Bexley Council were very pleased with our partnership with them and very impressed with the result which has been well received by the community.

The open day proved popular with children of all ages getting involved and exploring the equipment. Even the mayor had fun!
